The Civil & Structural Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting the design and implementation of engineering projects. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions that adhere to international standards and UN protocols.

Duties:

Functional Responsibilities:

Technical Tasks:

  • Assist in preparing design briefs and reports that meet specific client and stakeholder requirements.
  • Create comprehensive design documentation, specifications, bar bending schedules, and other project documents to ensure quality and detail.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and quantity surveyors in project planning, scheduling tasks, and developing integrated designs.
  • Ensure that all documents meet the required quality standards.
  • Deliver expected outputs for review by the Civil & Structural Engineer in a timely manner.
  • Conduct civil and structural design services according to client requirements and applicable international standards and codes of practice.
  • Produce civil and structural bills of quantities for proposed projects.
  • Notify the Supervisor in advance of any obstacles that may hinder timely delivery.
  • Conduct site inspections and assessments as required.
  • Assist in developing specifications, procedures, and QA/QC protocols.
  • Liaise with international clients and address their requirements.
  • Coordinate works and submissions with all relevant disciplines, including architectural and service design engineers and quantity surveyors.
  • Research and identify suitable technologies, techniques, and designs for project incorporation.
  • Assist in conducting technical design reviews and certifying civil and structural documentation as an independent reviewer when required.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.

Final Output/Deliverables:

  • Ensure project design and construction quality are high, adhering to local, international, and UN standards and relevant health and safety procedures.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil & Structural Engineering from an accredited university is required.
  • An advanced degree in Structural Engineering is an advantage.
  • Registration as a professional engineer with a recognized institution is a plus.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in Civil & Structural Engineering design and implementation is required.
  • Candidates with experience in international/local projects in conflict or disaster-prone areas will be preferred.

Language Requirements:

  • Full working knowledge of English is required.
  • Fluency in French is an added advantage.
