As a Database Administrator at ITS, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our database environments. You will be responsible for managing both SQL Server and Oracle databases, collaborating with development teams, and driving continuous improvement through optimization and automation.
Duties:
- Operational DBA Duties: Perform installation, database upgrades, patching, environment cloning, and monitoring procedures. Ensure effective backup/recovery strategies are in place.
- Database Design and Architecture: Design, architect, and build SQL Server and Oracle platforms, translating business requirements into functional database solutions.
- Problem Resolution: Interface with application development teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application and database systems.
- Project Management: Manage multiple applications, service areas, and projects simultaneously, ensuring timely responses and quality delivery.
- Continuous Improvement: Support ongoing improvements through optimizations and automation of existing and new database services.
- Security Management: Set up and maintain Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and other encryption mechanisms to safeguard data.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in engineering and supporting enterprise databases.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Significant knowledge of SQL Server on-premises and Azure SQL services.
- Good working knowledge of Oracle database technology on both Windows and Linux platforms.
- Strong understanding of Oracle backup and recovery using RMAN/Data Pump.
- Experience with High Availability technologies, such as SQL Failover Clusters and Availability Groups.
- Hands-on experience in administering large, high-volume 24/7 SQL and Oracle databases in complex enterprise environments.
- Additional Skills:
- Experience with Windows Clustering.
- Familiarity with SaaS or web development.
- Hands-on experience in DevOps practices.
- Experience with SQL Server database installation and configuration.
