Laboratory Instructor, Computer Engineering

The College of Engineering and Technology (CoET) at AUM is committed to maintaining high-quality academic programs through a learner-centered approach. The Department of Computer Engineering, which offers an ABET-accredited undergraduate program, is currently seeking full-time faculty members as Laboratory Instructors, starting in the Fall Semester of 2024.

Job Requirements:

• Educational Background: A Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering or a closely related field from an internationally accredited university.
• Programming Proficiency: Strong skills in programming using Python, C, and/or Java.
• Adaptability: Ability to work in a diverse, interdisciplinary, and fast-paced environment.
• Language Proficiency: Demonstrable skills in oral and written English, the primary language of instruction and communication on campus.
• Research and Publications: Excellent publication records are a plus, as is experience in academic or industry settings.
• AI Experience: Participation in Artificial Intelligence projects or competitions is a plus.

Job Description:
Faculty members will engage in teaching, service, research, and professional development tasks. Successful candidates are expected to:

• Prepare lab manuals and syllabi.
• Design and test laboratory experiments.
• Deliver laboratory sessions, including pre-laboratory presentations.
• Supervise and assist students in all aspects related to laboratory work and associated courses.
• Assess students’ performance using various assessment tools outlined in the lab syllabi (quizzes, presentations, lab reports, exams, etc.).
• Strive to enhance teaching effectiveness through appropriate strategies.
• Maintain records of students’ attendance.
• Compile laboratory course portfolios by the end of each semester.
• Maintain logs and equipment record books.
• Order necessary equipment and specimens.
• Ensure compliance with university safety regulations.
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
• Assist in proctoring exams.
• Support faculty in research within the same specialized area.
• Contribute to professional development activities.
• Engage in college and departmental activities with a spirit of leadership and collegiality.
• Undertake any additional duties as directed by the Head of the Department.
